The Model MCPC Laboratory Moisture Computer uses the
principle of weight-corrected capacitance measured
at radio frequencies to determine a physical property
(dielectric
constant) that can be related to moisture content.
This technique is useful in measuring moisture because
RF
completely penetrates nonconductive materials and therefore
can gauge moisture throughout the material. The test
is instantaneous and completely nondestructive, and
no sample heating or chemicals are required. The
Model MCPC
is often used as a safe and inexpensive replacement
for the Karl Fischer chemical titration moisture
analysis. It also replaces heat lamp 'moisture balance'
type heating devices.
